Struggling Sixers

February 10, 2024

I hope the 76ers aren't taking a page from the Eagles and going to fall apart because of the injury to Joel Embiid. They need to get their act together or they might not even make the playoffs. There’s a lot more time left in the NBA season and they can't afford to sit back and struggle like this when they have plenty of players that should step up. Joel had his knee surgery and is going to be out for at least six weeks, which is almost the rest of the season.

The trade deadline in the NBA was today, and the 76ers picked up Buddy Hield from the Indiana Pacers to help their three-point shooting. I’m surprised they did not try to pick up another backup center. They also traded Patrick Beverly to the Milwaukee Bucks for guard Cameron Payne and a second round draft pick.

At the beginning of the Super Bowl week, it was announced that the Eagles will play their first regular season game of the next NFL season in Brazil. I would understand this more if it was a preseason game. This game will be a disadvantage for both teams when have to fly halfway across the world to play one football game.

I hope the Super Bowl is a close game. I’ve heard more people are picking the 49ers to win because of the injury to the Chiefs offensive lineman Joe Toomey. If you’re a San Francisco 49ers fan, it would be cool if Kyle Shanahan wins his first Super Bowl. His father, Mike, won back-to-back Super Bowls with the Denver Broncos and John Elway.

Next week is the start of baseball spring training. I hope this means the start of warmer weather here in Delaware too. I'm done with winter! I think the National League East will be quite competitive this year. The Atlanta Braves, Phillies, New York Mets and Florida Marlins each made improvements from last year. I am pretty surprised the Mets are not being taken seriously as a contender, considering they still have Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonzo on their team. I am ready to see what unfolds.

I'll start early ... Go Phillies!
