The 44th season of the Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre has a wealth of artistry and fun planned for Delmarva residents and visitors.
With “Aladdin” on tour, RSCT will bring the excitement of live, professional theater to communities throughout Sussex and Kent counties.
One of the many stories in “One Thousand and One Arabian Nights,” “Aladdin” comes to life as two actors play all the characters in a delightful 45-minute production.
Tour highlights include shows at Lewes Canalfront Park at 6:30 p.m., Friday, July 25, and at the Freeman Arts Pavilion near Selbyville at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 26.
In Rehoboth Beach, weeklong film and theater camps for ages 8-14 will provide young actors and filmmakers with opportunities to develop their skills and creativity with an experienced staff of teaching artists.
Originality, imagination and teamwork are the essential elements as campers take part in hands-on artistic activities.
Film camp dates are July 7-12, July 14-18, July 21-24 and July 28- Aug. 1. Campers will create their own original films, learning skills, terminology and the importance of collaboration in video production. Each week ends with a mini-film festival, screening the campers’ work.
Two weeks of theater camp, Aug. 11-15 and Aug. 18-22, include stage games and improvisations designed to improve campers’ acting and communication skills. Participants will audition for roles and rehearse a scripted play performed for family and friends on Friday afternoon.
Camps run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, in the fellowship hall at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 20276 Bay Vista Road, Rehoboth Beach.
