Sussex Academy grad wins DSWA environmental studies scholarship
The Delaware Solid Waste Authority offers college scholarships to Delaware students studying engineering and other environmental studies programs.
As the recipient of the Theodore "Toby" Ryan Memorial Scholarship for the 2023-24 academic year, Sussex Academy 2023 graduate Victoria Parsons, was awarded $2,500.
Parsons’ academic achievements are commendable, and her commitment to excellence is evident through her membership in the National Honor Society, where she was honored as the Philanthropy Award Winner in both 2022 and 2023.
She has demonstrated her leadership potential as a candidate for the U.S. Congressional Award, an esteemed program that recognizes young individuals who have excelled in voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness and exploration.
Parsons’ passion for environmental conservation is exemplified through her founding of the Forces of Nature Club, where she has actively engaged her peers in initiatives promoting sustainability and protection of natural resources. She has actively participated as a student and volunteer in the Brandywine Zoo's Conservation Leadership Academy.
Looking ahead, Parsons plans to attend the University of Delaware's Honors College, where she will major in environmental science and participate in the climate scholar program.
