Sussex Consortium student charged after destroying classroom, threatening staff
A Sussex Consortium student faces charges after police say he damaged a classroom Sept. 13 and threatened to shoot staff.
Police were called to the school about 12:30 p.m. for a report that a student was destroying a classroom and threatening to shoot staff, police said.
The school was on lockdown when police arrived. Police said Michael Jones, 20, caused about $1,500 in damage to school property. He was taken into custody without incident. Police said no firearms were involved and no one was injured.
Jones was taken to Delaware State Police Troop 7, where he was charged with felony terroristic threatening reckless disregard risk inconvenience to a school, two counts of terroristic threatening, criminal mischief over $1,000, and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on his own recognizance.
