Sussex Gardeners elect new officers, learn special craft

The Sussex Gardeners, a member of the Delaware Federation of Garden Clubs, kicked off its 86th year Sept. 21 and elected new officers.
After the business meeting, Lisa Locke, who recently retired from a career in education and advocacy on climate change, presented a tutorial on crafting lifelike wire trees mounted on a natural base. Each member present had the opportunity to craft a wire tree and mount it on a natural base of her choice.
The next Sussex Gardeners meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 20276 Bay Vista Road, Rehoboth Beach. The program, “Dragonflies: Jeweled Hunters of the Skies,” will be presented by Mike Moore, president of the Delaware Ornithological Society.
