Sussex Tech welcomes new director of human resources

Sussex Technical High School announced Dr. Jason Peel as its new director of human resources and support services beginning in the 2023-24 school year.

Peel started his education career as a Spanish teacher. Over the span of 22 years he has served in different teaching and administrative roles. Most recently, he served as director of human resources and school climate for the Milford School District. His degrees include a bachelor of arts in Spanish education from Elon University; a master of arts in Spanish language and literature from Middlebury College where he studied abroad in Madrid, Spain; a master of school administration from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and a doctorate in policy and administration from the University of Delaware.

In addition to teaching, Peel has held principal, assistant principal and administrative positions in North Carolina and Delaware school districts. Returning for the 2023-24 school year will be Peel’s second tenure at Sussex Tech. In 2008, he started as assistant principal and moved to supervisor of support services, where he served until 2012.

Peel resides with his wife of 23 years, Lisa, and is the proud father of three children currently enrolled in middle school, high school and college.

Sussex Tech is a public high school that prepares Sussex County students in grades 9-12 for their future success in workforce environments, higher education and the military.
