Will these new injuries hurt the Philadelphia Eagles?
The Philadelphia Eagles were able to beat the Houston Texans this past weekend by 10 points despite losing two of the most important players to pretty major injuries that will take weeks to mend. Even with the injuries, the Eagles offense was pretty impressive, especially with how they ran the ball at the end of the first half. They lost DeMeco Ryans, their middle linebacker, for the rest of the season with an Achilles injury. I hope this injury doesn't force him into retirement just yet. I always feel so badly when a player has to quit the game due to an injury and not just personal choice. The Eagles also lost their starting quarterback Nick Foles with a broken collar bone. This stinks because this will keep him out right up to the start of the playoffs. I do think Mark Sanchez will do a decent job because he has a much better supporting cast of players around him than he did when he played for the New York Jets. The first test of that will be against the Carolina Panthers for Monday Night Football Oct. 10. The Panther's quarterback, Cam Newton, has been in quite a slump. I hope his poor performance continues until we have beaten them.
What's with the fighting in NASCAR? Isn't it supposed to be about speed and not fists? At the end of this past weekend's race there was a huge fight between Brad Keselowski and Jeff Gordon. It is completely ridiculous that there was no suspension for both drivers. If there was this type of fight in baseball or basketball, there would definitely have been some sort of penalties imposed by the commissioner of the leagues. There was a point during the fight that at least 50 people were involved in trying to break it up. Get back in your cars and give the spectators the show that they came to see!
