Young artists’ work on display outside Lewes library

Young artists creating public art – that was the goal of a new project sponsored by Lewes’ Art in Bloom.
The group held its first young artists event April 5, at Lewes Public Library.
The talents and skills of eight students are now on display outside the library, opposite the Lewes Junction railroad station.
The young artists did their take on this year’s theme, Adventures in Transportation. There are drawings of trains, a scooter and even a helicopter.
The final artwork was selected by members of Art in Bloom and approved by library staff.
“What makes us most thrilled about this initiative is that, for the first time, Art in Bloom has reached out to young artists to create public art for everyone to see,” said Ed Zygmonski, co-chair of Art in Bloom and Lewes in Bloom.
Zygmonski said Art in Bloom will select the 2026 theme in June.
Jennifer Noonan, children’s librarian, said the art display is an excellent example of the community working together.
“We have a long-standing partnership with Lewes in Bloom [and Art in Bloom]. They’ve created this beautiful courtyard that provides an environment where we all want to learn, connect share and create,” Noonan said.
