Zwaanendael Club bestows scholarship on Anna Maria Fantoli
The GFWC Zwaanendael Women’s Club announced Cape Henlopen High School graduating senior Anna Maria Fantoli is the recipient of its annual scholarship, recently named in memory of member Maxine McWhorter-Ungerbuehler. The 2023 scholarship award is for $2,000.
Anna has been a member of the National Honor Society, and has demonstrated outstanding performance in plant and horticultural science, the agricultural sales competition, and the specialty crop production from Future Farmers of America. She participated in winter and spring track and field in her sophomore, junior and senior years, and participated in FFA and French Club activities. Her community, volunteer and work experiences included Women’s Club of Milton, Milton Garden Club, Mill Pond Garden, Cape Henlopen State Park, Lavender Fields and Peppers Greenhouses. In addition, she is an entrepreneur, founding and operating her own business, Anna Banana’s Candles, while the world was shut down by a pandemic.
Anna plans to channel her passion for the outdoors and her commitment to the environment through her studies as a forestry environmental science major at the University of Vermont.
