The Eagles are getting better and better

September 29, 2016

On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Pittsburgh Steelers by a shockingly lopsided score, 34 to 3! EVERYONE expected this game to be a lot closer than that! Most felt that the Eagles were overrated going into this game. I think maybe the Steelers took the Eagles too lightly, especially the offense and quarterback Carson Wentz. Everyone also seems to forget that the defense has been rebuilt.

I also hope the players themselves are not going to believe the hype about them, especially the idea that they are good enough to make it to the Super Bowl. I am still going on the thought that this goal is a little farfetched. There is plenty of time to prove their worth and they play a lot harder teams later in the season. Their matchup with the Detroit Lions next weekend should be an easy win. If they can come out of this one with another strong effort, then there will be room to start to dream about some divisional wins.

There's a whole bunch of golf news to talk about. First of all, on Sunday legendary golfer Arnold Palmer passed away at the age of 87. Even though he wasn't the best golfer ever by record compared to the likes of Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods records, he was probably the most impactful individual golfer in modern history.

His prime years were in the 50s and 60s, which coincided with the invention of the TV. He won seven major championships and 62 overall PGA tour events. He was also beloved by most golf fans. He also was one of the first athletes to have sports agent in Mark McCormack who founded ING sports agency. Arnie was one of the founders of the Golf Channel in 1995, which is the main reason I am able to watch and write about golf as much as I do.

The other huge event in golf this week is the Ryder Cup. This event is one of the more interesting events in golf over the last 25 years because of how competitive it has become. The European team has won 8 of the last 10 events! Most of the time the score is very close so it makes it exciting from beginning to end.

I think it is a little crazy that the US is favored to win this week according to the Las Vegas odds-makers. They seem to always overplay the talent of the US players compared to the European team. I actually think the European team should be the favorite to win. They have won the last three matches in a row which is a great motivator to stay positive and effective. At the very least, I think it should be a push on who's going to win. The Ryder Cup is one of my favorites to watch because it makes such an individual sport like golf, a team event for this weekend.
