The NBA and Stanley Cup finals have started. For the race to the Stanley Cup, the Pittsburgh Penguins are ahead 2-0 in their series over the Nashville Predators. The Penguins are a big favorite to win their second straight Stanley Cup. I think they will win it in five games. Pittsburgh has much more Stanley Cup player experience than the Nashville team does.
On the NBA side of things, I hope the championship series between the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors goes seven games. This is the third straight year for these two teams. This is the rubber match, as each has one win against the other. Up until this point, the NBA playoffs have been incredibly noncompetitive in the Western Conference. Golden State hasn't lost a game in the first three rounds, and Cleveland has only lost one. I hope the series is as entertaining as last year.
The Phillies haven't gotten any better over the past week. If they don't watch out, they will have one of the worst records in baseball history. Right now they're on pace for 106 losses for the season. If this happens, it will force the Phillies to go back to the drawing board in terms of their rebuilding efforts. I hope they can get their act together. This month of May was their worst in 20 years. They only won 6 games out of the last 28!
Congratulations to the Cape women's lacrosse team and coaching staff for winning their 9th straight state championship. Incredible !!
Good luck to the Cape boys’ team in the state final against Sallies on Saturday. I also have to give a shout out to Body Shop owner Adam Howard, who provides strength and conditioning training to the Lax girls and to all the parents and volunteers who coach for and support Atlantic Lacrosse Club. Atlantic is the high school's main feeder program.
It truly takes a village.
