As of now, the Golden State Warriors are up three to nothing in the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Warriors offense has overwhelmed every team they have faced this year. They have been averaging over 110 points a game in the finals. If they complete the sweep over the Cavaliers on Friday, they will be the first team in NBA history to go undefeated in the playoffs over four rounds. Perhaps the most impressive thing is that they are doing this against the team with the best player in basketball, LeBron James.
The Stanley Cup finals are tied at two games a piece. Both teams have won all of their home games. The series will probably go the distance. My favorite is still the Pittsburgh Penguins who are trying to be repeat Cup Champs.
The French Open is coming down to the end of the tournament. Rafael Nadal is playing at his typical high-level at the French Open. He could win his 10th French Open title in only 15 years. I'm usually a huge fan of Roger Federer, but I thought it was lame that he decided to skip this year's French Open even though he isn't hurt. He said he needed to rest up to get ready for Wimbleton and the U.S. Open. I think if you’re physically able to play, you should have to play in all the major tournaments.
In golf news, Phil Mickelson will most likely not play in the U.S. Open next week because his daughter is graduating from high school in California. I think this is a great family man's decision by Phil to show his daughter that her special life moments are equally important.
This would be the first U.S. Open he will have missed in over 25 years. He probably could have done this, but I am glad he did not ask the high school to move the graduation just for him.
And, on that note, I will congratulate all the local graduates and wish them well, wherever this accomplishment leads them.
