My prediction came true

June 25, 2021

Jon Rahm won the U.S. Open by one shot at 6-under par over Louis Oosthuizen from South Africa. John played a consistent tournament and was 2-under par going into the last round and three back of the leaders. There were about 10 golfers who had a chance to win the tournament, including defending champion Bryson DeChambeau and two-time U.S. Open winner Brooks Koepka. But Rahm pulled away from the pack by sinking birdie putts on the last two holes. That hadn't been done since Tom Watson did it in 1982 to win. I think Rahm has the talent to win up to five majors because he’s only 26 years old. He is also the first golfer from Spain to win the U.S. Open.

Unfortunately, the Philadelphia 76ers are out of the playoffs prematurely again this year. They lost a very competitive seven-game series to the Atlanta Hawks. If Ben Simmons could have made his foul shots, the Sixers would have been advancing to the Eastern Conference finals. I hope the 76ers can help Ben Simmons find a good sports psychologist to help him with his game. For the season, he was making just over 50 percent of his free throws, which is really bad for a point guard. He reminds me of Ben Wallace and Shaquille O’Neal from back in the day. They were both centers and neither could shoot from the foul line. Someone should also tell Joel Embiid that he does not have to play like a running back in NFL all the time. He needs to save himself from all the injuries he has already suffered in his career. I am already looking forward to next season for the Sixers. It should be a very successful one.

The Phillies are not playing well. The team did not have a good West Coast trip to San Francisco and Los Angeles. They only won one game against both teams, and then suffered two very disappointing losses at home against the Washington Nationals. This weekend they are playing the first place New York Mets. In order to stay in contention for the division, they have to play well this weekend, because they’re already five games back in fourth place. We shall see.
