Conservation Stewardship Awards entries due Nov. 15

September 6, 2021

Sussex Conservation District, the delegated authority for Delaware Sediment and Stormwater Regulations in Sussex County, is accepting entries for the inaugural Conservation Stewardship Award. This award will recognize organizations in five categories that have exceeded regulations to prepare, protect and preserve sensitive natural resources in the county.

“SCD, through its recognition and appreciation of these organizations, hopes to catalyze future voluntary conservation and encourage residents to choose conservation-focused organizations,” said Jessica Watson, SCD sediment and stormwater program manager.

Entries will be accepted in the following categories: Developer, Residential and Commercial; Design Team, Engineer, Surveyor and Other; Home Builder, 1-50 homes per year and 51 or more homes per year; Homeowner Association, Open Space Management and Stormwater Management; Site Contractor, Residential and Commercial.

Multiple entries per organization are permitted, and photos and videos are encouraged. The deadline to enter is Monday, Nov. 15.

A panel of judges will evaluate entries, and winners will be announced in early January 2022. Winners will receive the 2022 Conservation Stewardship Award and graphic.

A banquet will be held Thursday, Jan. 27, at Mulligan’s Pointe in Georgetown to formally recognize winners, their achievements and positive impacts on the state’s natural resources.
