A bunch of little stories

August 19, 2022

I was surprised to learn last night that the NBA season will start Oct. 18, which is significantly earlier than I can remember. It usually starts around Halloween. I am curious to find out why. This should be an interesting year for the Philadelphia 76ers. They have been a contender for the championship for the past few years. I hope James Harden, Joel Embiid and company can play well together and stay healthy all year long.

The Phillies continue to play pretty well, but they are too far back to win the division. I think they will finally break the 11-year playoff drought. They currently hold the last wild card position in the standings. They have to hold off the Milwaukee Brewers and San Francisco Giants to make the playoffs. Maybe they can catch the the San Diego Padres for the second wild card position. Who knows?

The Little League World Series is happening now. A team from Delaware had a chance to make the tournament, but unfortunately lost in the finals of the regional. Congratulations anyway go to the Naamans team from Wilmington. I will be cheering for a team from Iowa  to win it all because of my family connections to the state. Every year is amazing to watch how good these 10-12-year-olds are, especially on defense.

I won’t be reporting what happened in the BMW FedEx golf tournament held at Wilmington Country Club until next week along with previewing the Tour Championship.
