Laurence J. Roe, DelDOT retiree
Laurence “Larry” J. Roe, 70, of Frederica, went home to be with the Lord Friday, May 17, 2024.
Larry was born in Dover to the late John W. Roe Sr. and Mary I. (Sapp) Roe. He was a 1972 graduate of Caesar Rodney High School and earned his associate's degree at Del Tech. Larry retired from DelDOT as a civil engineer tech in 2017 after 36 years of service.
Larry loved animals and nature. His greatest joy was being with his two fur babies, Cooper and Rudy. He loved watching classic westerns, Clint Eastwood movies, and classic film noir movies. He was also a history buff and was very knowledgeable about WWI, WWII, classic baseball, football, and basketball. If you were ever part of a trivia game, you would have wanted him on your team. Larry was a very kind and non-judgmental person. You would have thought that he worked for AAA as he changed many a tire along the road for those in need.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his father-in-law, Robert (Bob) Tribbitt; nephew, Harry Roe; niece Emma Roe; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Kim (Tribbitt) Roe; his loyal fur babies, Cooper and Rudy; and his brother, John W. Roe Jr. (Elida) of Magnolia. Larry is also survived by his mother-in-law, Joan Tribbitt; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Tracy Wharton (Brad) of Frankford, Timothy Tribbitt (Jane) of Ocean View, and Keith Tribbitt (Ronda Jane) of Dagsboro. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Jennifer Hitchens (Brian) of Dagsboro, Tiffany Tribbitt (JF) of Wall, N.J., Brittany Wharton of Frankford, Taylor Wharton of Selbyville, Kyle Tribbitt (Brooke) of Frankford, Tyler Tribbitt (Abbe) of Ocean View, Matthew Tribbitt (Becca) of Millville, and Ericka Roe of Baltimore. He is also survived by his great-nieces and -nephews, Luke Hitchens, Rae Tribbitt, Levi Tribbitt, Colter Tribbitt, Arlen Tribbitt, Riley Zoller and Madelyn Zoller; his aunt, Norma Roe; and several cousins.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, Saturday, June 1, at Frankford Vol. Fire Company, 7 Main St., Frankford. A service will follow at noon. Pastor Bruce Jones will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry’s name to Doggone Happy Animal Rescue Inc., PO. Box 596, Greenwood, DE 19950; Delaware Mobile Surf-Fishermen, P.O. Box 105, Harbeson, DE 19951; or Frankford Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, P.O. Box 333, Frankford, DE 19945.
