The NFL schedule was released last week. The Eagles have their work cut out for them. They have to play the AFC North and NFC North this season. I believe the Washington Commanders will be a lot better than they have been the last few years, and they will be motivated more to play for the new ownership and the city.
The Eagles play their first game of the season in Brazil against the Green Bay Packers, who are one of the most improved teams from last year. I also think the Detroit Lions, the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals could be Super Bowl contenders. Coming off the draft, the Eagles are receiving a lot of hype, so it is a good thing that they’re going to have to prove how good they can be right from the start. The only thing good about their schedule is the fact that four of the last five games are at home.
I was correct about an exciting finish at the PGA Championship. Xander Schauffele won by one shot over Bryson DeChambeau on the 72nd hole. Xander was able to take advantage of being in the last group on Sunday. He made a 6-foot putt to win his first major. I was rooting for him to win to help out the PGA Tour because Bryson DeChambeau plays on the alternate LIV tour.
Justin Thomas was able to finish eighth in his attempt to win in his hometown. He did not have a good enough third round to give himself a real chance to win on Sunday.
The Phillies currently have a six-game lead over the Atlanta Braves in the NL East division after 51 games. The Phillies record is 37-14, which is the best record in franchise history before Memorial Day. It is obvious they’re going to have to continue winning since the Atlanta Braves have won the division for many, many consecutive prior years. I’ve also heard rumors that Trea Turner wants to come back early from his hamstring injury. I hope the team says no and lets him heal for at least another week.
And some local great news. The Cape High girls’ lacrosse team just started another streak today winning the state championship against Tatnall School. Congratulations to the players and coaching staff.
