Freeman strategic planner earns doctoral degree

The Carl M. Freeman Companies recently announced Kate Gemma, strategic planning and development manager, has earned her doctorate in business administration from Wilmington University.

Gemma’s dissertation research focused on the relationship between perceptions of the built environment at the neighborhood level and social sustainability in Sussex County. A lifelong resident of Sussex, Gemma graduated high school locally and has since chosen to continue her professional career in the same community, furthering her commitment to the area where she grew up.

With over five years of experience, Gemma has been a key member of the community development team at Freeman. She brings a wealth of expertise in market analysis, acquisition evaluation and market intelligence. Her work plays a crucial role in informing strategic decisions, particularly in understanding housing product, pricing and pipeline trends. Gemma’s detailed market insights and presentations to senior leadership have contributed significantly to the company’s success.

Gemma also has completed the first year of the Community Development Institute, where she gained critical knowledge and tools needed to address complex community development challenges. She also holds an MBA from Wilmington University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware.
