Fall Olympic Lacrosse at DE Turf showcases local teams

October 18, 2024

The Fall Olympic Lacrosse League at DE Turf is cranking the rock for its fast and furious six-on-six Olympic-style games.

The games are played on a shorter field with just six members on each team – five players and a goalie. There is a face-off only at the beginning of each 12-minute quarter. The goalie starts off the play after a goal is scored, or the defense starts on a turnover. The action is lively and fast-moving.

“The DE Turf six-v-six high school lacrosse league is a fast-paced competition for our Delaware athletes,” said DE Turf manager and league director Dan Yearick. “The games provide an exciting atmosphere for players to showcase their skills in a condensed, high-intensity format. DE Turf looks to provide year-round leagues, keeping sticks in hands and cleats on feet.”

Cape is represented by the LifeMed Lacrosse Club Blue team and the LifeMed Lacrosse Club White team. Other teams competing are CR and First State Military combined as the 302 Lacrosse Club, Middletown, Milford, Sussex Tech Assassins and Polytech Panthers.

Playoffs start at 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 21, with semifinal and championship games the following week.
