The people of Sussex County, especially the eastern part, are in terrible trouble. The last three decades of uncontrolled, unrestricted overdevelopment approved by Sussex County Council have caused dire shortages in our infrastructure.
Roads are clogged, schools are bursting, and there are not enough doctors, veterinarians, nurses, dentists, emergency department rooms, firefighters, EMTs, hospital beds and animal emergency clinics.
Patients released from hospitals following surgery are told to see their doctor the following week. The available appointments are for next spring, 2025. This is nuts!
This week, several local doctors and hospital employees described the flood of people who have moved to Sussex and the hospital’s overwhelming inundation by patients with serious medical conditions.
I am not anti-development; growth is natural. But, too much too fast is suffocating us. There must be a pause or slowdown for our infrastructure, facilities and medical offices to catch up.
Contact your county council members and demand action!
It’s not just an inconvenience. People and pets are dying, and more will die if this is not fixed.
