DART Thanksgiving drive nets 15,000 pounds of food donations
Delaware Transit Corporation announced DART’s 27th annual Stuff The Bus Thanksgiving Food Drive collected 15,013 pounds of food.
The weeklong food drive took place Nov. 4-9 at Giant Food Rehoboth Beach and Dover Target, and three ShopRite stores upstate.
“Every year we are reminded of the generosity of so many with the significant amount of food collected for those in need. Stuff The Bus supports the Food Bank of Delaware’s mission to end hunger in Delaware, and we are thankful for the support,” said Nicole Majeski, Delaware Department of Transportation secretary.
Donations were received from the general public as well as businesses, schools, organizations and state agencies throughout Delaware, including employees from DART, DelDOT, Division of Motor Vehicles and the toll plazas.
John Sisson, DTC CEO, said, “The 27th year of Stuff The Bus was another huge success. I’m always so proud of the generosity of the DTC, DelDOT and DMV employees, business partners, bus riders and the community, whose generous donations will help out their fellow Delawareans in need of food assistance.”
DART organizers thank all their partners, with a special thank you to Sharp Energy, which donated a total of $5,000 worth of food that was loaded onto a DART propane autogas paratransit bus.
