VegWinterFest a success

April 20, 2025

VegRehoboth organizers extend thanks to everyone who took part in the 4th Annual VegWinterFest at the Lewes library.

“Your enthusiasm and engagement made this gathering a powerful celebration of plant-based living, inspiring positive change for our health, the planet and the animals. We are thrilled by the incredible turnout and the enthusiasm for plant-based living,” said Tara Sheldon, president of VegRehoboth. “Every conversation, every meal shared, and every story told at VegWinterFest reinforces the urgent need to embrace a more sustainable and compassionate way of eating.”

Guest speaker Paul Williams, local broadcast meteorologist, captivated the audience with his inspiring journey of overcoming prostate cancer through plant-based nutrition.

“Switching to a plant-based diet didn’t just help me survive - it gave me a new lease on life,” Williams said. “This way of eating is a game-changer for anyone looking to take control of their health.”

Dr. Chris Degnon, a triple board-certified physician, underscored the profound health benefits of a plant-based diet. “The science is clear - plant-based nutrition can prevent and even reverse chronic diseases,” she said. “This isn’t just about food; it’s about reclaiming our well-being.”

Beyond personal health, speakers and panelists emphasized the urgent need to rethink food choices for the environment. “Every plant-based meal is a step toward reducing deforestation, water waste, and carbon emissions,” said Teresa Ripley, representing Teach a Person to Fish Society. “What we put on our plates directly impacts the planet’s future.”
