It's officially over!
With their lackluster performance last Saturday against the Washington Redskins, the Philadelphia Eagles blew their last chance to make the playoffs this year. The Eagles continued their incredibly inconsistent play. The defensive secondary needs to be overhauled in the off-season. They cannot cover even decent wide receivers for a whole game. In this game, the defensive line was not much help either. Quarterback Mark Sanchez was going pretty good for most of the game until he threw a critical interception with two minutes to go. I am happy that Nick Foles will be back next year from his injury to reclaim his starting quarterback position. Sanchez will probably be on a different team. The Eagles definitely do not deserve a playoff berth considering how poorly they have played since that great win against Dallas on Thanksgiving.
Soccer's English Premier league season is at the halfway point already. It is only a two-horse race for the championship between Chelsea in first and Manchester City in second place. This is a two thirds repeat from last year. The third team from last year, Liverpool, which should have won, is now way down in 11th place in the table. For the fans who do not cheer for the top two teams, the end of the season could be anticlimatic because there is no playoff system in European soccer. This is because most teams play too many games for extra money to fit in any sort of playoff system in the league calendar.
I hope all of you will still be rooting for the Eagles to beat the New York Giants in their final game. This will show if you are a "real" fan.
I will report next week on the much awaited return of Slam Dunk to the Beach. Santa brought me tickets, so I will try to see a good bit of it! Go out and support this local event.
Happy Holidays to everyone.
