No more Eagles talk
Now that the NFL regular season is over and the Philadelphia Eagles did not make the playoffs, I will be cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers to win the Super Bowl. My godfather is a huge Steelers fan, and I'm still a Pennsylvania sports fan even after all my years in lower Delaware. We will see how that goes starting this weekend.
Instead of watching football, I thoroughly enjoyed going to the Slam Dunk to the Beach basketball competition. With over a decade's hiatus, the amount of support that the community gave to the much awaited return of Slam Dunk was very impressive. The games, which included the teams from the other states, were very well attended. It was also cool to have a TV/radio crew come to our town to cover the tournament. For the future, I would ask them to do some things to improve the overall experience for the disabled. They should have more designated spots for disabled people (near each corner of the court) to sit and watch the action. I had a great seat, but I was just a little bit too close to the court for my liking. Luckily, I had no close calls. I hope everything goes well financially for the organizers so that there will be repeat events for many years to come.
There are a lot of college football games on TV this weekend. It seems like a blast from the past to have some really good games scheduled for New Year's Day. It should be very exciting to see who wins the two college football semifinal games to determine who advances to the college national championship.
I want to wish all my readers and supporters a Happy New Year and say huge thank you to the support staff at the Cape Gazette for letting me express my thoughts and ramblings "from the sidelines" every week.
