There are tons of big sporting events this week. You have the Kentucky Derby, a big boxing match, and the beginning of the NFL draft.
Horse racing is too hard for me to follow. Lots of you follow it online, go to the race tracks or go to an off track betting site throughout the year. None of that works for me, but the Kentucky Derby itself is a cool two-minute event to watch. It might seem odd, but it is actually a lot easier for me to pay attention to the other two races in the Triple Crown. By the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes I then know many of the horses names from seeing them in the Derby. I do become a much more interested follower when a horse wins the first two races increasing the drama for the Belmont to have a Triple Crown winner.
I do not like watching boxing matches. I don't find it that entertaining to watch two people beat the crap out of each other when there is no ball or puck to compete over. I will only be watching the highlights of this big fight on ESPN come Sunday morning. I am hoping Manny Pacquiao beats Floyd Mayweather Jr. pulling off a slight upset. Let's all hope that it is a long fight for all of you who pay the money to see it on pay-per-view TV!
For most people, the first round of the NFL draft is the only round that gets close attention. That will be the case for me. It will be interesting to see what the Eagles actually do. It has been a very intriguing off season of speculation so far.
In somewhat surprising baseball news, the Los Angeles Angels decided to trade troubled baseball star Josh Hamilton back to the Texas Rangers. This happened before he even started playing this season. Josh, unfortunately, had a relapse of his drug problems during the off season. I hope he can conquer his demons and become the great player he used to be.
And I know you are all stunned that I don't have any golf news, but that will be a focus next week.
