A hopeful turning point for the Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles earned a very crucial victory over the Dallas Cowboys late last Sunday night to improve their record to 4-4. Actually, it was close to being Monday by the time the game finished!
The first half of the game was very slow-moving and most of the points were scored in the second half after a good majority of us fans had set our DVR's and called it a night. The game was won on the most exciting play of the season so far, when Sam Bradford connected with Jordan Matthews on a 41 yard catch and ran to the end zone to win the game in overtime. Thanks to ESPN Sports Center, I got to see this play over and over again to start my Monday morning.
Even with the positive outcome, in typical football fashion, the injury bug has affected the Eagles. Rookie linebacker Jordan Hicks (who had enjoyed an impressive season until Sunday) is unfortunately out for the season because of a torn pectoral muscle. This will be a long and tough recovery.
This week might be the best chance to pull back into a tie for first place with the New York Giants, because they have to play the undefeated New England Patriots. The Eagles are playing the Miami Dolphins.
Unfortunately, the Philadelphia 76ers are not getting any better this season. They are 0 and 8 so far. So I think it's fair to say they are just downright awful! It is very hard for me to even watch the games. Their only bright spot has been the play of Jahlil Okafor, their rookie center. He has been very impressive, but he can't win the games by himself. He certainly can't be enjoying his first season in the NBA.
I don't usually talk about movies, but I think it is ridiculous that Sylvester Stallone is back on screen! He is so desperate to make money through the Rocky Franchise that they created a part for him to coach the son of the fictitious character, Apollo Creed. I will be surprised if it is very successful in the theater and even on Netflix. Give it up Sylvester, you're down for the count!
