Author William Geroux to discuss new WWII book March 25

March 22, 2025

The Lewes Public Library and Browseabout Books will welcome author William Geroux for a discussion and signing of his new book, “The Fifteen: Murder, Retribution, and the Forgotten Story of Nazi POWs in America,” at 5 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, at the library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes.

Geroux will be joined in conversation by Paul Sparrow, a writer, historical consultant and former director of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum. The event will also stream live online via Zoom.

Geroux and Sparrow will discuss the long-forgotten German soldier POW camps erected in hundreds of small U.S. towns during World War II, and the secret Nazi killings that ensnared 15 brave American POWs in a high-stakes diplomatic showdown. From a fearless P-51 Mustang fighter pilot to a hot-tempered lieutenant colonel nicknamed “King Kong,” Geroux’s account is a reminder that what happens to soldiers after they exit the battlefield can be just as harrowing as what they experience on it.
