Bear Trap Dunes welcomes Kellie Pitts as general manager
Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club recently announced Kellie Pitts as its new general manager.
Pitts will oversee golf operations, membership, agronomy, and food and beverage services for the 27-hole club located in Ocean View. The club is owned by Carl M. Freeman Companies and managed by Troon.
As part of her responsibilities, Pitts will also oversee operations at Coastal Kitchen, a dining venue at Bear Trap Dunes that adds to the hospitality experience available to members and the public.
Nick Freeman, vice president of the commercial and hospitality division at Freeman, said, "Kellie’s leadership, commitment and deep understanding of the golf clubs make her an ideal choice to lead Bear Trap Dunes. Her ability to foster strong relationships and deliver exceptional member experiences will ensure continued success at Bear Trap Dunes. We look forward to seeing the great things Kellie will achieve as general manager."
A Sussex County native, Pitts grew up in Frankford and earned degrees in human resources management and business administration at Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington. She began her career in 2007 at Bear Trap Dunes, where she quickly demonstrated her dedication and leadership skills. In 2009, Pitts joined Bayside Resort Golf Club as membership coordinator, advanced through various leadership positions and became assistant general manager in 2021. Bayside Resort Golf Club is also managed by Troon and owned by Freeman Companies.
“I am thrilled to return to Bear Trap Dunes, where I started my career, and now have the privilege of serving as general manager,” said Pitts. “This club holds a special place in my heart, and I’m excited to build on its rich legacy of excellence. With a stunning course, incredible hospitality and a dedicated team, we’re committed to providing an exceptional experience for our members and guests. I look forward to working with our team to elevate the club and ensure that Bear Trap Dunes remains a top destination for golfers in Delaware.”
