The Cape softball team used a balanced offensive attack and tough no-hit pitching by Abby Marsh to earn a 10-0 shutout win over a visiting Milford March 27 at Cape’s Bill Cordrey Field.

Marsh went the distance in the circle, striking out five batters while only walking one.

“I feel really confident with my defense behind me going into my senior season,” said Marsh. “The no-hitter was a great way to open the season.”

Freshman Jordynn Bowe led the Vikings at the plate with a double, single and three RBIs. Senior catcher Alivia Heers delivered with a double and had two RBIs. Senior Bri Windish had a two-single game with two RBIs. Milena Buehler and Ava Calciano each had singles. Senior first baseman Hayden Hudson knocked in an RBI.

“I think we played very well against Milford,” said Windish. “We did a good job of putting the ball in play up and down the lineup. Getting the opening-day win against Seaford was great. It’s nice to start off the season with a win.”

The Vikings started the 2025 campaign with a 20-0 shutout of Seaford March 25.

Heers hit a first-inning homer for the Vikings. Windish had three hits. Hudson had a single and double. Marsh and Sara Craig combined for 11 strikeouts.

A 10-run first inning boosted the Vikings to a 23-1 win at William Penn March 29. The Vikings had 18 hits in the game.

Heers knocked in five runs on a triple, two doubles and a single. Calciano delivered four runs from three singles. Buehler, Marsh and Windish drove in two runs each. Abi Crouch, Alivia Longo, Madison Lubiniecki, Olivia Mekulski and Lily Phile each delivered an RBI.

Marsh had six strikeouts from the circle, while Teagan Baker came in from the bullpen and struck out three Colonials.

“It was a good all-around game for us,” said Cape head coach Mike Tkach. “Everybody got playing time, and we executed very well. Kudos to Teagan Baker who got the opportunity to come in and pitch. [She] threw three strong innings for us.”
