Children’s Beach House honors Lopez and Schwartzkopf

December 8, 2024

The Children’s Beach House board of trustees recently bestowed its President’s Award to retired state legislators Sen. Ernie Lopez and Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf. The award is reserved for individuals, families or organizations whose support strategically aligns with CBH goals and objectives.

“Pete and Ernie have long been friends of the Beach House and have supported our mission to serve Delaware’s vulnerable children, families and communities for years,” said Tom Sheridan, CBH board president. “Their help in securing grant-in-aid funds and other resources to support our kids is a testament to the impact of working across party lines, and it reminds us that we are all, regardless of our political affiliations, part of the same community.”

Children’s Beach House relies on state and federal funding for roughly a third of its operating budget as it supports under-resourced children with speech and language disabilities.

Both honorees testified to the impact of CBH’s eight decades of work in their communities.

“As our great little state continues to grow, the work of Children’s Beach House becomes ever more important in setting our kids and families up for healthy, successful futures,” said Schwartzkopf.
