Concert raises $4,000 for culinary undergrad to study in Italy

When it comes to famous culinary destinations, Italy tops the list, which is why the culinary program at Delaware Technical Community College includes a trip to the coastal town of Sorrento, where students learn about culture and cuisine.
However, travel costs can be prohibitive for some students, so local nonprofit Paul Kares raised $4,000 to cover student Alondra Estrada’s trip. Estrada is a chef intern at The Room at Cedar Grove, where Paul Kares holds events including the fundraiser.
“Paul Kares was founded to support culinary students like Alondra,” says James Rivette, the organization’s president and co-founder. “She’s so talented and has so much promise. She deserves to explore another country’s inspiring cuisine.”
Paul Kares also raises funds for young musicians. Three artists under 21 performed at the fundraiser: Abrielle Villegas, Aiden Villegas and Lindsey Brewster, who are members of Abrilu.
