The Delmarva Christian boys’ soccer team fell to 2-3 on the season following a hard-fought 3-2 loss to visiting Worcester Prep Sept. 13.
The Mallards struck first when sophomore Caleb Walston poked the ball past a diving Quinn Downs to take a 1-0 lead at the 28-minute mark.
The Royals stepped up the pressure in their attacking third. Jay Parish took a punt from Downs and blasted a 35-yard shot through Mallards defender Max Carpenter that got past goalie Dylan Scopp to tie the game at 1-1 going into the halftime break.
The Royals took the lead early in the second half on a goal by Kasey Bell off an assist by Harrison Schlabach.
But the Mallards responded with goals from Ben McGovern and Ryan Mann in the final 15 minutes to garner the ESIAC win.
Aleksey Klimins was credited with an assist for Worcester Prep.
Downs made nine saves for the Royals.
The Royals travel to Holly Grove Christian School in Maryland Tuesday, Sept. 17.
