Dewey Beach is basking in the glow of the holidays with many events to celebrate the season. The town is already aglow with warm lights to welcome locals and visitors, and several groups and businesses have planned festivities.
Santa Crush Crawl
The inaugural Santa Crush Crawl will step off Saturday, Dec. 7, when participants can enjoy their favorite beverages, wear ugly Christmas sweaters and frolic in the festivities at participating venues. Bring an unwrapped toy for donation to Crush Crawl registration at the Santa Claws pop-up bar at Starboard Claw in Dewey Beach.
For more information find Dewey’s Santa Crush Crawl on Facebook.
Tree lightings
Two tree lightings will mark the beginning of the holiday season in Dewey Beach.
Dewey Business Partnership will present its annual tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Fifer’s Farm Kitchen, 200 Cullen St. Businesses will offer a sampling of food and beverages, and Santa will make an appearance.
The 2024 tree-lighting ceremony on the TJ Redefer Memorial Baywalk will take place from 5:30 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, along the bay in Dewey Beach. Located near The Lighthouse Restaurant, the baywalk is named for former Mayor TJ Redefer.
Dewey Sip and Shop
The Developing Artist Collaboration will host its popular Black Friday weekend shopping event, Dewey Sip & Shop, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29 and 30, at the Hyatt Place Dewey Beach, 1301 Coastal Hwy., Dewey Beach.
An enjoyable alternative to the seasonal frenzy of big-box stores, Dewey Sip & Shop allows shoppers to find one-of-a-kind, handmade gifts and purchase them directly from the talented artists who made them.
Dewey Dunk, Winter Gala
The Dewey Dunk Plunge and Dewey Winter Gala are both presented by the Dewey Business Partnership, and both raise funds for events and initiatives put on by the partnership throughout the year. The annual Dewey Dunk Plunge is set for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, at Dagsworthy Avenue. Tickets are on sale now for the Dewey Winter Gala, slated for 8 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Lighthouse Cove Event Center.
