On Thursday night, the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Commanders by the score of 26-18, but they need to play a full game. In their earlier games, the Birds have been inconsistent on offense in the first half. If the team can start playing well for an entire game and not just the second half, they could definitely be a Super Bowl contender.
On the Eagles’ last offensive play of the first half, Jalen Hurts got tackled and slammed his head hard against the turf. He was checked for a concussion and cleared. It is very important for the Eagles’ future to keep him as healthy as possible because I don’t think their backup quarterback, Kenny Pickett, is going to be able to do a Nick Foles impersonation from 2017 when the Eagles won the Super Bowl.
I am very impressed with how much better the defense has gotten over the course of the season. They have become a very powerful unit. Now the Eagles have nine days off before the next game. They will play the Sunday night football game next week against the Los Angeles Rams in Los Angeles.
The 76ers have had a disastrous start to the season and are only 2-9 to date. I was so looking forward this season, but have been incredibly disappointed so far. They better get their act together fast and go on a winning streak or they won't even make it to the playoffs. That would be one of the biggest flops in the NBA history considering the expectations this team had to start this season. The only hope that us fans have is the fact that Tyrese Maxey, Paul George and Joel Embiid have not played together yet, but hopefully will soon! It just shows you how much the great players still need each other to make it a winning team.
Congratulations to the Cape Henlopen field hockey team for winning the state championship. Next week, I hope I can report a big upset in the state football playoffs. Cape has to play No. 1 seed Sallies tonight. Go Cape!
