I know they’re only a week-and-a-half into spring training, but there are some important things the Phillies need to focus on if they want to contend this season. Those include Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos cutting way down on their strikeouts and having the bullpen pitch consistently to back up their strong starting pitching rotation, especially the first three of Aaron,Nola, Zack Wheeler and Ranger Suarez. So far this spring, the bullpen has not been very impressive. In order for the Phillies to win the division, they’re going to have to win 90 to 100 games in the regular season.
I also hope the Phillies’ coaching staff is willing to tell JT Realmuto that he needs to take more days off in the beginning of the season and let back-up catcher, Garrett Stubbs, play more. I say this because JT seems to get tired in September and October when they need him the most.
Unless something significant changes, we will not be watching the 76ers playing in late May into June, because they will be out of the playoffs. Right now, they are really struggling without Joel Embiid on the court. It seems like to only way for them to win any games is when the guards and forwards are playing at the top of their game just to be able to keep up with their opponents. The two players that currently play center for the team, Paul Reed and Mo Bamba, are decent defensive players, but they cannot score consistently.
The Sixers are 4-11 in the last 15 games, and Joel will be out at least three more weeks. This has been an unfortunate time for the team. Before Joel got hurt, the Sixers had a legitimate chance to make it to the finals this year, but now they are going to struggle just to make it to the playoffs. This just shows you how good Joel is as a player.
Right now, it seems like the Boston Celtics are going to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals. They are clearly the best team in the conference. I don’t know about the Western Conference as that is all mixed up.
