Protective fencing has been installed along the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk in front of the former Grotto Pizza. The restaurant and the Sirocco Hotel behind it are slated to be demolished in the coming weeks to make way for a new hotel called One Rehoboth Avenue. The hotel’s footprint also includes the former Dolle’s location and Zelky’s Arcade on the Boardwalk, and Kohr Bros. Frozen Custard on Rehoboth Avenue, but those buildings will be demolished in the fall. No work is permitted to take place over Easter weekend. The anticipated opening date for the 60-room hotel project with Boardwalk commercial space is May 2027.
