Inauguration events announced for governor-elect

Gov.-elect Matt Meyer and Lt. Gov.-elect Kyle Evans Gay will be sworn in to office Tuesday, Jan. 21, followed by a reception and inaugural ball.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Legislative Mall in front of Legislative Hall in Dover where legislators, elected officials and others will gather to watch the formal oath of office. The event will be livestreamed, officials said.

The inauguration ceremony will be followed by a community reception at 11 a.m. inside Legislative Hall, where Meyer, Evans Gay and their families will meet with community members. The reception will feature local food vendors, musical performances by Delaware artists and speeches from community leaders, officials said. Later that evening, the inaugural ball will be held at The Queen in Wilmington.

Tickets for the swearing-in, community reception and inaugural ball will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, go to transition.delaware.gov.
