Knights of Columbus set end-of-life planning seminar April 12

March 31, 2025

The Knights of Columbus Star of the Sea Council 7297 will sponsor a free seminar on Peace of Mind: End-Of-Life Planning, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, April 12, in the St. Edmond Catholic Church Parish Hall, Rehoboth Beach. Doors open at 8:30 a.m.

Topics to be covered include: hospice and palliative care; organ donation; pre-planning funeral arrangements; Catholic church teaching regarding burial and cremation; estate planning; and wills, powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives.

Speakers will include Charles A. Mowll, MPH, FACHE; Ronald C Krol, MD; Andrew T. Parsell, licensed funeral director; Father William Cocco, pastor, St. Edmond Catholic Church; and Melanie C. Burke and Megan E. DeGrafft, attorneys with Tunnell & Raysor, PA.

Most Catholics and Christians believe in life after death, but all know the loss of a loved one is extremely traumatic, requiring the strength and support provided by their faith, family, friends and community as they journey through the grief process. End-of-life planning helps to eliminate any uncertainty surrounding the deceased loved one’s final wishes, allowing surviving friends and family peace of mind in knowing that their loved one’s desires and preferences were being honored. It also allows surviving friends and family to navigate their own grief healing process as well as helping others to heal.

Handouts will be provided to all attendees. Light refreshments will be provided. Seating is limited.
