The Sussex County League of Women Voters will host its semiannual membership meeting from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, at the South Coastal Library, 43 Kent Ave., Bethany Beach.

The Rev. Rita Paige, keynote speaker, will set the tone for political activism as the league gears up for the new program year.

Paige is pastor of New Beginnings Community AME Church in Frederica. Her prior roles includes social worker and case management supervisor for the Delaware State Housing Authority, social action chair for the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Dover, vice president of the Central Delaware Branch NAACP, and member of the Delaware Women’s Workforce Council. She has also acquired wide-ranging skills and training in community organizing, applied suicide intervention skills, domestic violence in the workplace, diversity, dismantling racism, youth violence and gang prevention, and cultural professionalism.

As a nonpartisan organization, the league welcomes anyone concerned about local and state issues to bring a brown-bag lunch and join its mission to empower voters and defend democracy, regardless of gender or political affiliation.
