Lewes Lions Club members awarded for service milestones

At its March meeting, the Lewes Lions Club welcomed District Governor Joan Bestpitch and members of the District 22-D Lions Cabinet for an official annual visit.

After speaking about the the rewards of leadership in the Lions Club, Bestpitch awarded Lions Club International Milestone Service Chevron Awards in recognition of years of service to Charles Covington, 65 years; Howard Shelton, 20 years; Pete Dirks, 20 years; and Sue Lehman, 15 years. Members who also received awards but were not in attendance are Lloyd Schmitz, 45 years;  John Sarik, 55 years; Nancy Russ, 15 years; Jack Harman, 15 years; Gavin Braithwaite, 35 years; Liz Brittingham, 10 years; and Beth Hicks, 10 years.

Recent Lewes Lions accomplishments include presenting of the second half of this year’s scholarship awards to Montana Jones, Sara Dawson, Kathryn Wyshock, Hannah Maney and Aidan Block; providing donations to Lewes first responders, Samaritans Purse to assist with the hurricane relief in the southeast U.S., and Camp Abilities of Delaware, contributing toward the purchase of a service dog for a Delaware resident; and providing vision screenings for the children at Lullaby Learning Center.
