Lewes Little League barbecue in 1994

May 14, 2024

This photograph was recently found on a film roll in the Cape Gazette archives. It shows a Lewes Little League barbecue in Otis Smith Park along Savannah Road. Behind the group is the Shoppes of Lewes shopping center with the Daily Market and Lemon Tree as longtime tenants. When this image was made, a gas station still operated in the shopping center. Barbecues remain a common sight at Otis Smith Park, as the Rotary Club of Lewes and Rehoboth often uses the barbecue pit to sell chicken. Shown in back are (l-r) Kenny Stevenson, Doug Marshall, Robert Warrington, Brent Moore, Jimmy Hastings, Chip Davis and Bill Lingo. In middle are Jenna Pavlik, Cole Pavlik, Jackie Warrington and Kim Smith. In front are Maggie Lingo, Pleasant McCarty, Kristy Smith and Kip Marshall.
