Overfalls speaker to discuss plans for exhibit building Jan. 23

The Overfalls Foundation will host lifetime member Mike Safina as guest speaker at 3 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23, at Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes. The event is free and open to the public.

Safina will provide a description and update on the foundation’s plans to construct a new exhibit building adjacent to the Monomoy Pavilion in Lewes Canalfront Park.

Safina is a former president of the Overfalls Foundation and, as a volunteer, continues to support the foundation as community spokesperson on the new museum building project. Prior to retiring and moving to the Cape Region in 2017, he was a project manager for the U.S. Navy. He worked on several shipbuilding and combat-system programs, and was a former national point of contact for the Maritime Theater Missile Defense Forum, a multinational cooperative project for which he continues to consult. He is also a retired commander from the U.S. Navy’s Merchant Marine Reserve Program.
