Oyster farming and aquaculture program set March 30
The Lewes Public Library will host Dr. Ed Hale from the University of Delaware Sea Grant Program for a lecture on oyster farming, cutting-edge research on coastal resilience and UD’s innovative hatchery efforts to grow Delaware’s shellfish industry in Sussex County.
“Amazing Eastern Oyster: Aquaculture, Biology and Ecology” is set for 1 p.m., Sunday, March 30, at 111 Adams Ave., Lewes, and online via Zoom.
Attendees will discover how the mighty bivalve is shaping ecosystems, strengthening shorelines and driving sustainable aquaculture.
Hale brings more than 20 years of expertise in fisheries and aquaculture, working on species from Atlantic sturgeon to sandbar sharks.
This presentation is offering in conjunction with the University of Delaware’s College of Earth, Ocean and Environment’s Mariners community.
