Paul Kares will hold a fundraiser Thursday, Jan. 15, for Alondra Estrada, a Delaware Technical Community College culinary student, at The Room at Cedar Grove near Lewes.

Proceeds will help Estrada pay for a class trip to Sorrento and Rome this spring.

Paul Kares is a nonprofit founded by chef-musician Paul Cullen and Jim Rivette to support young performing and culinary artists.

“Paul Kares awarded a grant to Mitch Bunting so he could go on the trip, and he is now finishing his bachelor’s degree at Johnson & Wales University,” said Rivette, the nonprofit’s president. “We would love to see Alondra follow the same path to success.”

Estrada is an apprentice chef at The Room at Cedar Grove, a supper club and event venue just a few miles west of Route 1.

The fundraiser includes pizza, salad and charcuterie. Singer-songwriter Abrilu, who is originally from Texas, will perform.
