Rotary members learn about women’s recovery home

March 26, 2025

Debbie Short, president of the Barbara K. Brooks Transition House in Georgetown, spoke recently at a Rehoboth Sunrise Rotary Club meeting.

The Barbara K. Brooks Transition House  was founded in 2016 by Short in loving memory of her sister, a longtime advocate of women’s causes in southern Delaware. This facility provides a safe, sober and structured living environment where women who are in recovery can renew their lives.

Short said, “Our home in Georgetown is one of the first group homes for traumatized and vulnerable women who must re-enter a world filled with challenges. In our small-group setting, resident women support each other while learning about personal financial stability, job skills and searches, social interaction and spiritual growth.”
