Thankful for engaged community

November 29, 2024

At the Cape Gazette, we have much to be thankful for as we reflect on another successful year of local community journalism. This would not be possible without the loyalty and support of our dedicated readership. It is your trust in us, your commitment to staying informed and your continued engagement that drives us to do our best every day.

We are also excited to report that our subscription numbers continue to grow, a testament to the importance of local news in our community. The Cape Gazette remains steadfast in its mission to provide in-depth, reliable and relevant reporting. We understand the value of local journalism and the unique bond we share with our readers.

This year, we’ve also had the privilege of welcoming two talented reporters to our team: Kevin Conlon and Ellen McIntyre.

Kevin brings a wealth of experience after more than 35 years as a reporter, starting at The Daily Gazette in Schenectady, N.Y., and later becoming city editor of the Cortland Standard in Cortland, N.Y., where he had been working since 1998 before making the move to Lewes.

Though Ellen is a recent graduate of Penn State, the Delaware native boasts an impressive resume, working for the Daily Collegian while in State College, covering the Women's World Cup in New Zealand as a freelance writer for the Associated Press, then heading to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette to gain more experience as an intern.

Together with our dedicated staff, they will continue to enhance the quality of reporting and storytelling in the Cape Gazette.

We can’t conclude this editorial without recognizing our senior reporter, Ron MacArthur. Ron has been the heart and soul of our newsroom for many years, and we want to salute his fortitude as he continues to seek a liver donor to resolve ongoing health issues. Ron’s dedication to his work and his community is unmatched, and we look forward to the day when he is back with us, doing what he does best. Read more about his story on page 10

Thank you again for your support. Here’s to another great year of locally owned and independent community journalism.
