The Veterans Administration held a quarterly town hall meeting Jan. 23 at American Legion Post 28 near Millsboro. The meetings are held every quarter and rotate through seven different counties in the region.
In addition to introducing key personnel, these town hall meetings give the VA an opportunity to share information and provide veterans the opportunity to learn about the benefits available to them such as the veterans crisis line, readjustment counseling and suicide prevention, to name a few.
“This gives us an opportunity to build a better relationship with the veterans and provide them with the support they need, and to tailor information toward the community that we are in that evening. We also take questions and feedback to really try to understand what the veterans are feeling in that area. It’s incredibly gratifying,” said Kim Butler, director of operations for the VA Medical Center in Wilmington.
