Wanda Russell brings MY Dual Career to Rehoboth Beach
Looking to help people make more money doing things they enjoy, businesswoman Wanda Russell is bringing her MY Dual Career services to the Rehoboth Beach area.
“People are hurting,” said Russell. “My main mission is to help.”
Russell is a licensed Realtor in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Washington, D.C., a former financial columnist, owner of a clothing line and more. She estimates she has dozens of income generators.
In this financial climate, so much of what people need continues to go up in price, she said. Multiple streams of income help counteract those increases and keep a desired standard of living, she said.
“Most people are looking for flexibility,” said Russell. “This program allows them to decide. When someone gets off work, do they want to do something else or not. They’re in control.”
Russell said the key to having multiple streams of income is tapping into an individual’s talent. If it’s a side hustle, someone has to enjoy what they’re doing, she said.
“If it’s not fun, it’s too much like work,” said Russell.
Russell said she teaches people how to start a business with little to no money. From zero to $100, she said.
Part of teaching entrepreneurship is knowing the process of turning an idea into reality, said Russell, using a product she created as an example.
As a Realtor, Russell said clients sometimes have trouble visualizing how pieces of furniture will fit in an empty space. To help solve that issue, Russell created a product called Home Design in a Bag, which is six pieces of lined fabric that can be folded into the footprint size of 22 different pieces of furniture. It helps customers see how their stuff will fit, she said.
From planning to the product being available, it took a year, said Russell. It can be a real headache if a person doesn’t know the process, she said.
Being a successful entrepreneur is also a mindset, she said. What are the things that are going to set a person’s product apart from other similar products?
“You’re always making the elevator pitch and they just don’t know it,” said Russell.
Russell is hosting her first local dual career coaching event the first weekend in April – Friday, April 4, to Sunday, April 6 – at Brighton Suites Hotel, 34 Wilmington Ave., Rehoboth Beach. It’s free April 4, she said.
If someone misses Russell’s event, she said she’ll be having more coaching events in the future.
