Broadkill Beach Beckons - Can You Picture It?

December 12, 2016

If you're familiar with the Oldfather Group (and since you're here on our website, we assume that you are), you know that our "online resume” is filled with beautiful coastal Delaware homes in all shapes, sizes and price ranges.

Well, we're going to begin showcasing one of our featured homes here on our main blog page at the beginning of each week. They'll be spread throughout the region and will include some of the finer homes we have to offer.

We’ll give you as much background information as we can, and will also feature photos, videos and even some of our virtual reality tours. We’re going to shine that spotlight as brightly as we possibly can, without being overbearing of course.

Today, we start with a home on Broadkill Beach that’s about as close to the water as you can get, without needing a boat tied to your front step. Let’s take a closer look at this property at 401 South Bay Shore Drive:

Enjoy the peaceful tranquility of Broadkill Beach, as well as the nearby Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, from the outdoor deck of this two-level southern Delaware beach home.

This three bedroom, two bathroom home fronts Bay Shore Drive near the adjoining wetlands, but features very little traffic and lots of peace and quiet, even during the busy summer months.

The inside of the home features panoramic views of the nearby pond and stream, a vaulted ceiling great room with gas fireplace, a gourmet granite kitchen and an open floor plan.

As with several beach homes, the bedrooms are downstairs while the living areas, including the kitchen, living room and family room, are located upstairs. The upstairs areas also feature an abundance of windows, providing for an airy feeling, as well as spectacular views of the nearby scenery.

In 2015, Broadkill Beach was replenished with sand, making it one of the largest beaches in Delaware. During that replenishment, a 16-foot sand dune was also constructed for storm protection, and is maintained by the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

Residents of Broadkill Beach enjoy peaceful surroundings near the water, but are also within just a short drive of Rehoboth Beach and Lewes, and all of the fun and excitement of the Delaware beaches.
