DART sets bus service schedule for holidays
DART will operate regular weekday bus services statewide for Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31.
DART statewide services, both fixed route and paratransit, will not operate Christmas Day, Dec. 25, and New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.
Sussex County office holiday closings
Sussex County government offices will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 24 and 25, and Wednesday, Jan. 1.
Swearing-in at Jan. 7 meeting
Sussex County Council will not meet Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. The next regularly scheduled meeting is at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown.
Three new council members will be sworn in: Matt Lloyd (District 1), Steve McCarron (District 2) and Jane Gruenebaum (District 3.)
Independence veterans club supports local causes
The Independence Community Veterans Club raised $12,000 to donate to local organizations at Christmastime. In support of fellow veterans, $6,000 was presented to the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford to be used for the purchase of personal necessities throughout the year. The Community Resource Center and Mary’s House, a ministry of Mary Mother of Peace Church, each will receive $2,000 in support of their food pantries for community members in need. Fort Miles Museum also received a $2,000 donation in support of its historical preservation and education programs for future generations.
